New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs firmly dismissed China’s attempts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, affirming that such efforts to assign “invented names” cannot alter the reality of the state’s integral and inalienable status within India.
The statement, issued in response to media inquiries following China’s release of a fourth list of 30 new names for various locations in Arunachal Pradesh, reiterated India’s stance amidst Beijing’s heightened assertions to reinforce its claim over the Indian state.
“China’s persistent efforts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh are baseless and rejected unequivocally. The attempt to assign fabricated names does not change the fact that Arunachal Pradesh is, and always will be, an integral and inalienable part of India,” stated MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
On March 28, India reiterated that despite Beijing’s repetition of unfounded claims, New Delhi maintains its position that Arunachal Pradesh “was, is, and will always remain” an integral and inalienable part of the country. Mr. Jaiswal made these remarks during his weekly press briefing, responding to China’s continued emphasis on its claim over Arunachal Pradesh, following recent statements by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian.
