5 years after returning to India from Pakistan, Geeta finds her real mother

A girl named Geeta , who accidentally crossed the border from India to Pakistan when she was 11-12-years old was found at Karachi Railway Station and was given shelter by a Muslim family that runs a Trust.

Geeta was a deaf and dumb Indian girl after she was found at Karachi Railway Station was by a social welfare organization. She was sent back to India in the year 2015.

Geeta has finally been reunited with her real mother in the Maharashtra State of India.

Geeta’s real name is Radha Waghmare and her mother was found in Naigaon village in Maharashtra.

It took about 5 years to find Geeta’s real mother after the late External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, made arrangements for her to be flown back to India in 2015.

The NGO in India screened at least a dozen families from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, and Rajasthan after many claimed to be in blood relations with Geeta.

Finally, the NGO found Meena Waghmare (71) in Jintur in the Parbhani district in Maharashtra.

The NGO was able to identify Geeta’s mother when Meena told that her daughter had a burn mark on her stomach that was found to be true.

Geeta’s father Sudhakar Waghmare died some years ago and now her mother Meena lives near Aurangabad with her second husband.

Meena cried when she met her daughter for the first time. However, Geeta cannot understand what her mother said as she cannot speak or listen and can only understand sign language.

The government authorities will decide when to conduct a DNA test to confirm Meena’s claims.

How Geeta did reach Pakistan?

It is likely that Geeta reached Parbhani and boarded the Sachkhand Express to Amritsar and it’s possible after that she boarded the Delhi-Lahore Samjhauta Express.

Ms. Bilquees in Karachi, Pakistan took care of Geeta at the Edhi centre for years. Over there she was named ‘Fatima’ but later when they realized she is a Hindu they named her Geeta and they use to communicate with her through sign language.

Ms. Bilquees Edhi the wife of late Abdul Sattar Edhi, who now runs the world-famous Edhi Welfare Trust in Karachi loves Geeta who is now 29 years old as her daughter and she is in constant touch with her and she is happy that Geeta finally found her real mother.
