State of emergency implemented in Ontario to combat COVID-19

Another province wide state of emergency will be implemented in Ontario to combat COVID-19 as well as cut down on gathering sizes and retail hours as deaths and hospitalizations are record highs.

As of Thursday, at 12:01 am 28 days stay-at-home order only exceptions for essential purposes.

Now due to state of emergency Government has power to enact new measures beyond those included earlier starting form 26th December 2020.

The Government has more powers to close more business and disallow events and public gathering and order people in the province to stay home.

The retailers will have shorter working hours and gathering size will be reduced from 10 to 5 people only.

Quebec like curfew will not be implemented in Ontario.

Non-essential retail stores have to be closed between 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. to discourage people shopping late night.

The stores and business mainly selling food, pharmacies, convenience stores, gas stations as well as restaurants for takeout are excluded from restricted hours of operation.

Pick-up and delivery from restaurants will be allowed throughout the lockdown.

Chiropractors, physiotherapy and dentist will remain open.
