Bomb blast killed 15 children in eastern Afghanistan

A bomb fitted to a rickshaw killed more than 15 children and about 20 wounded in eastern Afghanistan. The area is now Taliban-controlled as violence continued to grow in the war-weary country.

In the village of Gilan district, a man riding a motorized rickshaw was selling goods and was surrounded by children when the explosion took place.

The spokesman for the Ghazni provincial governor Wahidullah Jumazada said that toll could rise further and he also said no group took responsibility of the attack and investigation is underway as why children were targeted.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman informed media that the explosion happened due to unexploded ordinance in the area that children might have picked up and bought near the rickshaw he also said about 12 children killed which is less than actually reported by Wahidullah Jumazada.

Exact report cannot be conformed as the area is under Taliban control and journalist have limited access to the area.
