Covid-19 Origins probe by WHO ends with no breakthrough in China

The much much-anticipated inquiry by WHO team in China about the origin of Covid-19 virus ended on Tuesday with no breakthrough discovery.

The WHO team first ruled out a theory that Covid-19 came from a lab but was not able to identify which animal may have passed it to humans.

According to Liang Wannian who headed up the Chinese contingent of an inquiry carried out jointly with World Health Organization (WHO) experts said coronavirus probably jumped to humans from animals but it is still unclear which species first transmitted it.

In another statement Liang Wannian said there was “no indication” the sickness was circulating in Wuhan before December 2019 when the first official cases were recorded. This statement was supported by Ben Embarek the WHO expert.

According to Ben Embarek it is still under investigation from which animal the virus transferred to humans and it is that extremely unlikely that the virus was leaked from a lab.
