Indian Farmers reject government’s proposal

Indian farmers reject government’s proposal to pause farm laws for 1.5 Years.

Indian farmers protesting against the 3 controversial farm law rejected government’s proposal to put a hold on 3 new farm laws for 1.5 years and stick to the demand for complete scrapping of the laws.

On the 10th round of meeting the government had proposed to pause farm laws for 1.5 Years and to set up a special committee that will consider all their demands related to the new farm laws.

According to the Farmers Union they would go ahead with the Tractor rally on 26th January.

The Government of India asked the Supreme Court to stop the rally as this sort of rally on Republic Day will embarrass the nation.

The Supreme Court upheld the farmers’ fundamental right to protest and mentioned that police should handle the matter.

The Farmers Union however have assured that the tractor rally pass through the Ring Road along the periphery of Delhi and will not clash with the traditional parade on Rajpath that takes place every year on Republic Day.

According to the farmers the peaceful movement is now a people’s movement so protest rallies will be held in other Indian states as well like Kerala, Uttarakhand, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh. A 3 days protest will take place in Kolkata from 20th January.
