UK calls for Aung San Suu Kyi’s release

According to UK Aung San Suu Kyi’s party National League for Democracy (NLD) is the rightful winner of Myanmar’s election and she should be released immediately.

The Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi was detained after the Myanmar’s took over the power in a coup blaming her party for election fraud on Monday.

Medical staff is on strike and wearing black ribbon against the coup in the main city Yangon.

National League for Democracy’s detained MPs who were detained in the capital Nay Pyi Taw has been told they can leave but whereabouts of Aung San Suu Kyi remains unknown.

Nigel Adams the Minister of State for Asia told UK’s parliament that The United Kingdom considers the Myanmar’s election result fair and Aung San Suu Kyi’s party is the rightful winners of the election.

Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh said they don’t feel sorry for Aung San Suu Kyi but have condemned the Myanmar’s military coup. Rohingya’s leader Mohammad Yunus Arman said Myanmar’s army killed their families in Rakhine state while Aung San Suu Kyi was in power and she did nothing.

U.S. President Joe Biden’s new administration could impose economic sanctions on Myanmar if the countries do not return to democracy.
