The counting of votes for the Rajasthan Assembly elections, which witnessed a direct contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, began at 8 am. At the moment, the BJP is leading in the state, with the Congress in the second position. The elections in the desert state were held in a single phase on November 25. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, leading the Congress, is optimistic that the party will defy the long-standing anti-incumbency trend in Rajasthan.
“Hearty congratulations to all the Congress campaigners who won in the Rajasthan Assembly elections. It is hoped that all of you will do a good job in advancing the policies, values, and principles of the Congress Party and will play the role of a strong opposition to safeguard the interests of the people of Rajasthan,” says Ashok Gehlot after the Congress loses in Rajasthan.
