Election Results 2023: In what is being seen as the semi-final contest ahead of the upcoming general elections, votes are currently being counted for assembly seats in four states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh.
The Congress, currently in power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, and the BJP, governing Madhya Pradesh, are engaged in a direct battle in these three states. Meanwhile, the K Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS is hopeful for a hat-trick in Telangana. Most exit polls predict the BJP winning in Madhya Pradesh and also having an advantage in Rajasthan. In Telangana and Chhattisgarh, exit polls have forecasted a victory for the Congress.
In the last six assembly elections, Rajasthan has alternated between suggesting support for the BJP and the Congress. The campaigning has been intense on both sides, with the BJP deploying its established election template, featuring senior ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the Congress has pursued a grassroots campaign with frequent appearances by its central leaders.
Madhya Pradesh has favored the BJP in three of the last four elections, and four out of nine exit polls predict its return to power, each by significant margins. Three of those four exit polls project it winning more than 139 seats in the Assembly out of 230.
