Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and nephew of former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, faced suspension from the Janata Dal (Secular) following the emergence of scandalous videos. Departing for Germany shortly after the videos surfaced, Revanna’s actions sparked a storm of controversy.
In a twist, his former driver, Karthik, claimed responsibility for sharing the videos, alleging betrayal by BJP leader G Devaraje Gowda, to whom he had entrusted the footage. Karthik’s motivations stemmed from personal grievances, including alleged mistreatment and land disputes involving the Deve Gowda family.
The situation escalated with accusations and counter-accusations between Karthik and Gowda, each blaming the other for political manipulation and leaking the videos for personal gain. Amidst the turmoil, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations, signaling a serious inquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, an FIR was filed against Revanna and his father for alleged sexual harassment of their former cook, adding another layer of legal complexity to the unfolding scandal. The Home Minister of Karnataka, G Parameshwara, announced intentions to summon Revanna back to India for questioning by the SIT, underscoring the gravity of the accusations against him.
