In what could well be a first-of-its-kind move, National Award-winning actor and director Parthiban says that he’ll first screen the timber- of videotape of his single-shot, the non-linear film’ Iravin Nizhal’ for cult before screening the factual film to them.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, director Parthiban, who has a partiality for pushing boundaries, said,” We’ll first screen the making videotape of the film, which will be nearly half-an-hour long, to all cult who come to watch my film. This will be followed by a short five to 10- nanosecond break. After that, the factual webbing will start and there will be no interval break during the webbing also.”
Explaining why he’d embarked on such a move, Parthiban says,” utmost people don’t know what a single-shot, the non-linear film is. So, this videotape will enable them to appreciate the film more. Also, when I screened my film to some musketeers, I didn’t show them the making of videotape. After the webbing, some had a smile that gave away what they were allowed. Some allowed
that I must have shot different shots and edited them together. still, when I showed them the making videotape, they realized how wrong they were.”
But will not this move take down the suspension element or will not it give away the plot to a cult? Says Parthiban with confidence,” No, it will not. The cult will get to know where all the promoter goes but they won’t be suitable to find out the story or the climax of the film.”
Iravin Nizhal'( which means’ Shadow of the Night’, has music by Oscar winnerA.R. Rahman and cinematography by Arthur. Wilson. The film is each set to hit defenses in July.
