Islamic State (IS) claims responsibility for Kabul mosque blast

The Islamic State (IS) terror group has claimed responsibility for the blast in a mosque in the Afghan capital Kabul that killed at least 12 people, including the imam.

The IS released a statement on Saturday via the Nashir News Agency, that publishes the IS’s official propaganda, in the statement, it accused the Imam of the mosque identified as Mohammad Numan of encouraging the fight against jihadist.

The statement said, “Soldiers of the caliphate had planted an explosive device in the mosque.

However, the legitimacy of the statement could not be independently verified.

At least 12 people got killed and 15 others got wounded in the attack in Shakar Dara district in Kabul province during the Eid-ul Fitr festival on Friday.

This terror took place while the Afghan government and the Taliban were holding a ceasefire for the Islamic Eid holidays. This ceasefire ended on Saturday midnight.

According to the UN report, the Taliban is still able to carry out attacks in various parts of the nation.
