Speaking at the initial session of the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday appealed to implicit investors to invest in Bengali cinema and TV programmes.
“Bengali cinema and TV members have tremendous growth capabilities. So, I appeal to the implicit investors to invest in these two parts,” the Chief Minister said while addressing the gathering.
She also called for some kind of arrangements between the entertainment diligence in Mumbai and Kolkata. She assigned popular Bollywood star Shatrughan Sinha, who’s now a Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member, to interact with Bollywood on this count.
The Chief Minister lamented the missed occasion to invite elephants from the entertainment assiduity to the lately- concluded Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2022, the periodic event to show the state as an investment destination.
“It was really a mistake on our part. From coming time, the leaders from the entertainment assiduity will surely be invited,”Banerjee said.
She also said that the entertainment assiduity can immensely contribute to the development of the state’s frugality. The sector, according to her, has tremendous growth capabilities.
The 27th edition of Kolkata International Film Festival will go on till May 1. A total 104 flicks and 59 short/ talkie flicks will be screened this time.
The Kolkata International Film Festival is the third oldest film jubilee in the country. It was started as an periodic event way back in 1995 by the quondam Left Front government.
