Even Given, the container ship that blocked the Suez Canal has been freed now is on the move.
The ship sailed towards the Great Bitter Lake further along the canal which is about 45 km away.
According to the salvage company involved in the rescue said ‘Even Given’ will undergo full inspection at Great Bitter Lake.
Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the President of Egypt, hailed the success of the operation done to free the ship.
An announcement was made by the Suez Canal Authority that the ship that blocked the Suez Canal for 6 days has been successfully freed and it’s no longer grounded.
According to the salvage firm head, there was unprecedented time pressure to free the ship.
The Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) announced that the Panamanian container ship has been successfully refloated.
It was successfully freed as a result of successful push and tow maneuvers which led to the restoration of 80% of the ship’s direction; with the stern 102 meters away from the bank of the Canal now instead of 4 meters prior to the refloating.
