The Taj Mahal the most popular tourist destination located in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh (Indian State) had to be briefly shut and tourists evacuated this morning after Uttar Pradesh police received a hoax call about a bomb at India’s most iconic monument ‘symbol of love’.
The Uttar Pradesh received a call at the police helpline following which they informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in charge of Taj Mahal’s security asked tourists to vacate the beautiful 17th-century monument.
As per the senior police no bomb was found and tourist entry resumed after 11 am this morning.
After receiving the call as per SOP Police bomb squad and other teams conducted a thorough search of the Taj Mahal.
The person who called on UP 112, Vimal Kumar Singh said there will be a bomb blast at the Taj Mahal, has been detained for questioning in Firozabad.
Vimal is a resident of Kasganj district and was staying in his maternal grandmother’s house in Firozabad district. As per Police Vimal is mentally unstable and is probably under treatment.
The Taj Mahal was closed for tourist for about an hour and 45 minutes.
The Taj Mahal attracts seven million visitors every year including a large number of foreign tourists.
Taj Mhal together with Agra Fort contribute massively to the revenue of Uttar Pradesh.
