At least 100 people killed due to floods and landslides in Indonesia

At least 100 people killed and many missing after floods and landslides in East Nusa Tenggara province in Indonesia.

Volcanic debris from Mount Lewotolo engulfed many houses on Sunday followed by heavy rain that killed 20 people and more than 60 people are missing.

14 villages are still isolated due to inaccessible roads.

The total death toll is likely to increase as information is still being collected from the villages.

Mount Lewatolo is being erupted intermittently since December last year.

In Adonara Island at least 73 people killed after flash floods and landslides hit villages on Sunday.

It is difficult to access these islands due to the high seas. There is limited information available due to interruptions to internet access.

On Alor island, more than 11 people killed due to similar disasters.

It is also said more than 100 houses damaged and 5 bridges collapsed.

It is predicted by the climatology and meteorological agency there could be heavy and torrential rain, strong winds, and large waves during the coming week in Indonesia.
