At least 4 Pakistani soldiers got killed on Wednesday during an attack by militants at Pakistan’s Afghan border.
As per the statement by Pakistan military’s statement, a group of soldiers was erecting a fence at the Afghan border when they were fired from the Afghan side.
No terror group has claimed responsibility yet but the Pakistani Taliban is said to have bases in the border region on both sides and they frequently attack security forces in the area.
The Taliban have been pushed by the Pakistani military into lawless border regions of Afghanistan after a series of offensives since 2014, but the Taliban are still capable of launching surprise attacks.
Pakistan is in the process of fencing its more than 2500 km of open border with Afghanistan in order to stem the movement of Islamist militants who are linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State.
