Women’s Day Special: Indian Women Officers in Armed Forces Who Broke All Barriers

In the last couple of years, Indian women have shattered the glass ceiling by joining the armed forces.

Women in India joined Indian Army, Indian Navy, CRPF, and the Indian Air force to serve their motherland.

For many years the role of women in the Indian armed forces was limited to the medical profession. Indian armed forces have now promoted women’s might and passion, signaling a radical move towards gender partiality in the armed forces which is the world’s most male-dominated profession.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day we bring you the achievements of glorious women in Indian armed forces uniform.

The number of women in the Indian military has increased by almost threefold over the last 6 years as more avenues opening up for them at a steady pace.

At the moment there are about 9,000 women serving the Indian Army, Navy, and the Air force. The trial services giving these women more opportunities to boost their careers.

As per an Indian lady army office, the Indian army facilitates both the professional and personal life requirements so she can maintain both professional and personal life.

Indian CRPF (The Central Reserve Police Force)

There is a contingent of 34 CRPF women personnel who have been specially trained for specialized jungle warfare commando force, COBRA. The brave women will be deployed in the jungles where they have to fight the enemies.

Indian Air force

Flight lieutenants Bhavna Kant, Mohana Singh, and Avni Chaturvedi were inducted into the Indian Air Force as the first women fighter pilots in 2016.
