Who is new Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma? Know about deputy CMs Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa

Bhajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA, was announced as the chief minister-designate during a BJP council party meeting on Tuesday. On Friday, he took the oath as the new chief minister of Rajasthan, administered by Governor Kalraj Mishra at the Ramnivas Bag in Jaipur. Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa were also sworn in during the ceremony. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and other top party leaders.

Bhajan Lal Sharma, a first-time MLA, had been declared as the chief minister-designate during the BJP council party meeting on Tuesday in the presence of central observers Rajnath Singh, Saroj Pandey, and Vinod Tawde.

About the new CM and deputy CMs of Rajasthan:

Bhajan Lal Sharma, born into a family of farmers in Atari village in Bharatpur, is 56 years old. He studied in government schools in his home tehsil of Nadbai before completing his BA at Maharani Shri Jaya Government College in 1989. During his college days, he joined the ABVP, the student wing of the BJP, holding various positions, including co-convenor for Bharatpur district. In 1994, at the age of 27, Sharma became the sarpanch of Atari village, a position he held twice. Since then, he has served in multiple roles within the BJP, from mandal adhyaksh to a three-time state organizational secretary.

Diya Kumari, the granddaughter of the last ruling maharaja of Jaipur, Man Singh II, joined the BJP in 2013. Her political journey gained success when she was elected to the Rajasthan Assembly in the 2013 elections, representing Sawai Madhopur. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Diya Kumari achieved a significant victory, defeating Congress candidate Devkinandan Kaka with a substantial margin of votes. This victory marked her entry into the public political arena as a Member of Parliament.

Prem Chand Bairwa, 54, is an MLA from the Dudu Vidhan Sabha constituency. In the 2023 assembly elections, Bairwa defeated Congress candidate Babulal Nagar with a significant margin of 35,743 votes. However, he faced defeat in the 2018 elections, losing the seat to Babu Lala Nagar by a margin of 14,779 votes.
