Pakistan’s Punjab province’s provincial have experienced a powerful blast wherein they claimed to lives and injured dozens, in what being seen as a targeted terror attack.
The attack responsibility is openly claimed by banned Baloch National Army.
The attacker has targeted the densely populate vicinity area that is the Lahore’s hub of wholesale markets, located around the Lohari Gate area, was rocked by a powerful blast, claiming lives of at least two which includes a teenager, and injury at least 25 others. The total claimed injured are 22 men and three are women.
“The blast was so powerful that we could see things flying in the air,” said a local shopkeeper of the area.
The blast was of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as a deep crater was formed at the site of the blast as suspected by the Officials.
“Investigation is in the initial stage and the nature of the blast cannot be ascertained without a probe,” said DIG Operations Lahore Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan.
The nearest Hospital near to the blast location is the Meo Hospital, they confirmed at least 27 people till now out of which 2 people received dead , 25 other are under treatment. Hospital authorities say that at least 5 more are in critical condition.
This explosion was so powerful that nine shops and establishment got damaged, including a private Bank, while dozens of motorbikes, stalls and other roadside selling points caught fire.
Security forces have scrutinized the area to carry out investigation into the tragic incident.
The market is known to be frequented by lower class and poor people, who opt to buy cheaper things for themselves.Lohari gate area is part of Lahore’s old city,the narrow streets and congested localities.
