Joe Crupi, 65 year old father of two with no pre-existing health conditions died because of Covid-19. His family pleads for people to take COVID-19 seriously. He died on 6th December.
He contacted Covid-19 at work and few days after that he was admitted to Markham Stouffville Hospital due to breathing issue.
He underwent Chess X-ray, received fluid due to dehydration, and was sent home with antibiotics.
Family thought he was ok but again had breathing issue and they had to call 911 when his blood-oxygen levels dropped he was taken to hospital again and within half an hour the family got a call that he had been intubated and it was the last time family was able to speak to him.
After 3 days he was taken to Toronto General Hospital so he could receive special treatment through an Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machine. It is used if ventilator is not enough.
Doctors informed the family that his Lungs no longer working properly and they don’t have an option of lungs transfer.
His family had to take the difficult decision of stopping his treatment and let him die peacefully.
His family wanted to appeal to people to take Covid-19 infection seriously.
