The IT professionals from India may have to wait longer to get their H-1B visa as the new Joe Biden administration seeks to prioritize immigration visa cases first.
H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ workers from other countries in some special occupations that require technical skills.
The US IT companies depend on tens of thousands of employees from countries like India and China.
At present US government plans to boost the number of green cards and it wants to expand other avenues for high-skilled workers.
A Green card is a permanent residency card that is a document issued to immigrants to the US as evidence that the bearer has been granted the privilege of residing permanently.
Currently, there is a backlog of about 473,000 qualified family-based Green Card requests.
So immigrant’s visa has been prioritized.
