Gaza War To Continue “With Or Without International Support”: Israel Minister

Israel affirmed on Wednesday its commitment to persist in its conflict in Gaza “with or without international support,” despite increasing pressure, notably from key supporter, the United States. The war, initiated in response to attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas on October 7, has lasted for three months, resulting in over 18,600 casualties, primarily women and children, and causing extensive damage to infrastructure.

Despite the UN General Assembly’s overwhelming support for a non-binding resolution for a ceasefire, airstrikes and gun battles continued in Gaza. The ongoing conflict has led to displacement, with millions living in makeshift shelters. The situation has strained essential supplies such as food, water, medicine, and electricity.

The UN estimates that 1.9 million out of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents have been displaced, and the healthcare system is in ruins. The World Bank described the loss of life and extent of damages as “unparalleled.” Israel, facing criticism, expressed its determination to continue the war against Hamas, stating that a ceasefire at this stage would be a “gift to the terrorist organization.”

Despite calls for a ceasefire, the conflict persists, with fears of a wider regional conflict growing as exchanges of fire occur along Israel’s borders with Lebanon and ongoing actions by Iran-backed groups in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
