According to a member of WHO team investigating the origins of Covid-19 in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, they need to try to trace genetic elements of the virus in bat caves.
Peter Daszak (a zoologist and animal disease expert) informed that his team received some information about how Covid-19 virus first discovered in late 2019 in Wuhan led to a pandemic. He also said there was no evidence to suggest it emerged from a lab but he did not elaborate.
Earlier WHO experts spent about 3.5 hours investigating at Wuhan Institute of Virology which was the centre of some conspiracy theories that leak from this lab caused Wuhan’s first coronavirus in later 2019.
The Who team also met Shi who is a well-known virus hunter who has long focused on bat coronaviruses that earned her a nick name “Bat Woman”.
Shi and other scientists reject this theory that the virus was leaked from the lab.
