Dhaka hospital fire leaves 3 Covid-19 patients dead

A major fire broke at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday morning that left 3 Covid-19 patients dead. As said by DMCH Director Nazmul Haque.

The fire victims were admitted to the ICU of the hospital when the fire broke out.

Other 11 Covid-19 patients admitted at the ICU that was dedicated for Covid-19 patients were evacuated. All of them were shifted to the burn unit and the ICU of the Old Building.

There was a total of 14 patients in the ICU in the 17 bed ICU.

The fire broke out at about 8 am Wednesday morning at ICU unit 2 at DMCH.

3 patients who were in life support died while shifting them to the CCU of DMCH.

The fire might have exploded from a machine beside bed 12 of the ICU. Fire officials are yet to determine the cause behind the fire.
