India: American political scientist and global political risk consultant Ian Bremmer shared that he predicts the BJP will secure 305 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, with a margin of error of plus or minus 10 seats. Bremmer, the founder of the Eurasia Group, highlighted the Indian general election as a stable and consistent event amidst global political uncertainties, contrasting it with challenges faced elsewhere, including the upcoming United States election.
Bremmer emphasized the significance of the Indian election in the global political landscape, stating that, according to Eurasia Group research, the BJP is likely to secure between 295 to 315 seats. While acknowledging the potential challenge posed by the Congress-led INDIA bloc, Bremmer underscored the smoothness of India’s democratic process and its transparent electoral system.
He praised the Indian electoral process as “free, fair, and transparent,” expressing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s potential third-term victory based on strong economic performance and consistent reforms. Bremmer also discussed India’s economic trajectory, noting its past underperformance but projecting future growth, positioning India as the fourth-largest economy in the world by next year and possibly the third-largest by 2028. Additionally, he highlighted India’s increasing influence in shaping global relationships.
