Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged these slips of the tongue, attributing the widespread attention they received to the context of ongoing internal political discussions in the U.S.
Peskov emphasized that it was up to U.S. voters to determine their presidential candidates’ prospects, not Russia. However, he noted that the Kremlin had taken issue with Biden’s disrespectful comments about Putin, referring to Biden’s description of Putin as “a murderous madman” at the NATO summit. Peskov stated that such remarks were absolutely unacceptable and did not reflect well on an American head of state.
