At least 27 people got killed and 5 people were rescued after a head-on collision between an overcrowded speedboat and a sand-laden bulk carrier in River Padma in Bangladesh on Monday.
The accident happened at about 7 am in morning.
The speedboat was en route from Munshiganj’s Shimulia to the Banglabazar pier in Madaripur.
The search operations are still underway to look for more survivors.
Identification of 5 of the dead has been done as per Rahima Khatun, Madaripur Deputy Commissioner.
According to witnesses, there were about 30 passengers on the speedboat.
