62 people freed from Taliban’s Baghlan prison

Afghan commandos managed to free 62 people including 36 Afghan security force members, from a Taliban prison located in northern Baghlan province according to the Afghan Defence Ministry on Wednesday.

The operation was launched in Nawrozak village of Baghlan-e-Markazi district and 4 Taliban were killed and “some of Taliban’s weapons were destroyed.”

There is no confirmation from the Taliban yet.

On Monday night commandos freed 41 people, including 19 Afghan security force members, from a Taliban prison located in western Herat province. The Afghan Special Operations Corps said in a statement.

They further said, “The operation was launched in Marwa village of Pashtun Zarghon district of the province, 7 Taliban who were the prison keepers were killed during the operation.

“The forces have also seized weapons during the operation and destroyed 6 motorcycles belonging to the Taliban.”
