MPP Andrea Hazell Breaks Down How Ontario’s 2026 Budget Fails Communities.

On Friday, April 10, 2026, our community came together for a Community Town Hall on Ontario’s 2026 Budget to break down what it means for Scarborough. We looked at what the budget is missing and who it leaves behind: families and young people. Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their stories and perspectives, and contributed to such an important conversation about the challenges facing Scarborough.

I also want to sincerely thank our panelists for speaking powerfully to the realities facing our community and for sharing their lived experiences, from healthcare and education to housing and affordability:

Dr. Nasra Warsame, Founder of Ajax Family Practice & Walk-In Clinic

Waleed Khoghali, Regent Park Tenants Rights Association

Nancy Crawford, TCDSB Ward 12 Scarborough Trustee

Zakir Patel, TDSB Ward 19 Scarborough–Guildwood Trustee

Kowmitha Satkunarajan, Executive Director, Toronto Youth Cabinet

Samson Pitan, Student, City Studies Major

Scarborough–Guildwood, and all of Scarborough is stronger because the people who show up, speak out, and work to build a better future for our community. Thank you for being part of that work. Please continue to email me and share your stories so I can bring your voices and experiences back to Queen’s Park and demand real change.
