India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intensified his criticism of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s age and health, insinuating a possible conspiracy behind Patnaik’s declining health. Modi, speaking at a rally in Baripada, Odisha, alleged a clandestine effort to undermine Patnaik’s health and vowed to establish a committee to investigate the matter if the BJP were to form the government in Odisha.
In response, Patnaik dismissed Modi’s allegations, asserting his good health and inviting the Prime Minister to directly inquire about it. He accused the BJP of spreading rumors and targeting his close aide, VK Pandian, a senior leader of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Patnaik’s campaign against the BJP’s allegations has centered on debunking their claims and highlighting his vigorous involvement in the ongoing election campaign across Odisha. He criticized the BJP for magnifying insignificant issues and attempting to create controversies.
The BJP’s aggressive stance against Patnaik and the BJD reflects its determination to secure a historic victory in the Odisha Assembly elections and maximize its Lok Sabha seat count. Despite facing challenges from the Congress-led INDIA bloc, the BJP aims to surpass its previous electoral performance and maintain its dominance in national politics.
The BJP’s focus on Patnaik’s health and its attacks on Pandian indicate the party’s apprehension about the BJD’s resilience and the leadership role Pandian may assume in the future. These tactics underscore the BJP’s strategy to unsettle its opponents and strengthen its position in the electoral arena.
