French President Emmanuel Macron has created a brouhaha in France after being mugged downing a bottle of beer with Toulouse’s rugby players after they settled the domestic league title at the weekend.
Videotape has surfaced on French television channels and on social media showing the chairman being handed a bottle of Corona in the Toulouse changing room after the end of the game at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday, which Macron watched from the personality quadrangle.
After being prompted to down it in one, the 45-year-old drains the bottle in 17 seconds to cheers and hollers from the Toulouse coaching staff and players after their 29-26 palm over La Rochelle in the French Top 14 final.
“Poisonous virility in political leadership in one image,” twittered Sandrine Rousseau an MP for the Greens party.
“A chairman who’s participating in the joy of 23 players and taking part in their traditions. That is all,” replied ruling party MP Jean- Rene Cazeneuve.
Emmanuel Macron is a keen sports addict and is well known for his locker- room visits to French sports brigades.
In December, after Les Bleus lost the final of the football World Cup in Qatar, the former investment banker made an appearance in the platoon’s changing room to deliver an emotionalpost-game vim talk.
Like utmost French chairpersons, he’s more constantly seen with wine in his hand, and he formerly claimed he drank a glass at lunch and another in the evening.
He has also given hot backing to France’s celebrated wine assiduity, indeed blocking attempts by public health authorities to promote the” Dry January” conception– turning the first month of the time into four weeks of alcohol abstinence.
