The Maharashtra government Friday told the Supreme Court that it has formerly recommended a CBI inquiry into the contended lynching of three persons in Palghar in 2020 and this led to the check of proceedings on as numerous as four pending desires on the issue.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha took note of the fresh affidavit of the state government that a communication to this effect has formerly been issued by it.
“In view of the decision taken by the state government, no farther direction is demanded on these desires at this stage. The desires are disposed of,” the bench said.
The pleas demanded a inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), professing that the disquisition by the state police was being conducted in a prejudiced manner.
before, the quondam Maha Vikas Aghadi government had opposed the plea for a CBI inquiry into the incident and latterly, with the change in division in the state, it agreed to the desires seeking disquisition by the central inquiry agency.
