More than 82 militants have been killed on Sunday as warplanes pounded Taliban hideouts and positions in Kandahar province in Afghanistan which was a former stronghold of the militant group.
The raids started on Saturday night in parts of the restive Arghandab district.
Apart from killing 82 armed militants that include Sarhadi, a Taliban’s key commander as well as 2 tanks and many vehicles belonging to the insurgents were destroyed.
No possible casualties of the security personnel were not announced but the clean-up operations backed by warplanes will continue in parts of the troubled district.
There have been no comments from Taliban militants who are active in that area.
