Fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/30) and Hardik Pandya (2/16) put in a stunning performance, using the change of pace to good effect, to help India beat England by 8 runs in the 4th T20 match to level series.
This win by India bought the 5 match series level at 2-2.
England won the toss and elected to bowl first. India set a target of 186 runs for England to win.
Batting first India lost openers K.L. Rahul (14 runs) and Rohit Sharma (12 runs) cheaply. Suryakumar Yadav got off the mark in international cricket with a six over fine leg hit total 3 sixes and 6 fours scoring 57 runs for 31 balls.
Rishabh Pant chipped in with 30 runs off 23 balls. Shreyas Iyer 37 runs of 18 balls provided the late fillip to take India to a fighting total.
Jofra Archer was the most successful England bowlers picking 4 wickets for 33 runs and Mark Wood only gave 25 runs of his 4 overs.
England was well set to achieve the target as they were 140/4 in 16 overs needing 46 runs off 24 balls but Shardul Thakur (3/42) took 2 wickets of 2 balls in his 3 over was a turning point in the match.
However, Shardul almost lost the game for India in his last over when England needed 23 runs in their last over and were able to get 13 runs of the first 3 balls and Thakur bowled 2 wides but England was able to get only 1 run in the last 3 balls.
