About 45,500 Years old Cave Painting Found

Oldest Known Cave Painting in the world discovered in Indonesia. It is said to be made 45,500 years ago.

A life-sized picture of a wild pig said to be made 45,500 years ago was discovered by archaeologists in Indonesia.

The discovery shows earliest evidence of human settlement of the region.

It was discovered in the Leang Tedongnge cave in Sulawesi in Indonesia which is only accessible during the dry season because the area is flooded during the wet season.

The painting of the Sulawesi warty pig measured 136cm X54cm was painted using dark red ochre pigment.

The pig in the painting has a short crest of upright hair and a pair of horn-like facial warts indicating it’s an adult males.

It is known for human to be hunting warty pig and is a key feature of prehistoric artwork in the region especially during the Ice Age.

The team of archaeologists believes the painting was made by Homo sapiens.
