Koirala came to know about quake from Modi’s tweets

Kathmandu, April 28 (IANS) Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala was in Thailand when the 7.9-magnitude earthquake rocked his country, and came to know about the temblor though the tweets of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

Koirala went to Bangkok from Indonesia after participating in an international conference. He was to return to Kathmandu after a stopover for medical treatment in a hospital in Bangkok.

Los Angeles, April 23 (IANS) People magazine has named actress Sandra Bullock the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” for 2015.

“No, really. I just said, ‘That’s ridiculous’. I’ve told no one,” Bullock said.

The news was announced on NBC’s “Today”, reports eonline.com.

Top IS commander killed in Iraq

Mosul, April 23 (IANS/AKI) A top military aide to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the al-Hadath TV channel reported on Thursday.

A crack team of former Baathist soldiers shot dead Wisan Kanan, one of the militant group’s top commanders in Mosul, the channel said.

Obama takes responsibility for accidental killing of hostages

Washington, April 23 (IANS) US President Barack Obama said on Thursday that he took “full responsibility” for a counter-terrorism operation in January against Al Qaeda which accidentally killed two hostages.

“As president and as commander-in-chief, I take full responsibility for all our counter-terrorism operations, including the one that inadvertently took the lives of Warren (Weinstein) and Giovanni (Lo Porto). I profoundly regret what happened,” Obama told reporters.

IPL: Daredevils down Mumbai Indians by 37 runs

New Delhi, April 23 (IANS) An impressive all-round display helped Delhi Daredevils overpower Mumbai Indians by 37 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Ferozeshah Kotla stadium here on Thursday.

Chasing a formidable target of 191, Mumbai managed only 153 for nine. With the win, Daredevils improved to six points from six matches, occupying the fourth spot.

The win also snapped Daredevils’ nine-match losing streak at their home ground.

New York, April 9 (IANS) Now you can also access Facebook Messenger on the web and chat from your desktop computer. But one can already chat with contacts while using Facebook on the web — so what’s the novelty?

Well, according to Facebook, the Messenger tool will help users chat “without distractions” that may come on the main page of the social networking site.

The social network unveiled a web version of Messenger recently. The product is accessible at Messenger.com and resides outside of Facebook.
